美電腦程式員失業轉職拾狗糞
【明報專訊】美國一名電腦程式設計員，因公司把工作外判往低薪國家而失業，他為了生計發展了一門另類生意 ─ ─ 拾狗糞。
現年 42 歲、已婚及育有兩名孩子的賴萊斯說 ﹕ 「父母供書教學讓我取得數學學士學位，可是我如今卻是個『掃雷人』（清道夫）。假如客戶的地點接近，我可以在 1 小時內清理 4 至 5 個庭院。」
招欖百客每次收 78 元
約於 3 年前，賴萊斯因公司把電腦程式設計工作外判往印度而失業，他從紐約一個朋友那兒，萌生到人家後院清理狗糞的主意來。賴萊斯每周上門一次，每次收費 10 美元（ 78 港元），招攬逾 100 名客人，收入還算不錯，但要跟其他行家競爭，因美國已出現愈來愈多類似的公司。
易撿拾最愛聖伯納德狗糞
賴萊斯表示，他全靠客戶的口碑推介招生意，而他的顧客絕大多數是沒有空閒時間或不想處理狗糞的婦女。他說 ﹕ 「聖伯納德狗是我最喜歡接的工作，因為牠們屙的便便一大堆的，容易撿拾。」
他把刮冰器縛在一條滑雪桿上，自製「舀糞鏟」。他把狗糞掃入附有膠袋的垃圾鏟，待裝滿了，便整袋放入大垃圾桶裏。他說 ﹕ 「這工作肯定勝過電腦程式編寫，因為它夠靈活，我又可以到戶外工作。」
全美國估計約有 6300 萬隻寵物狗，牠們每周大概有 23 次「便便」，處理不善可對兒童和寵物帶來危險。

A Very Touching TV Advertisement

A TV advertisement I saw on Internet. The camera was focus on the a little pretty girl with long blond hair, she walked to her parent’s room and found they were not there and she went to the mirror looking at herself, then she holding a pair of scissors and began to cut her own hair. The door bell rang and the girl went to open the door, and she saw her parent with a little boy were so surprised looking at her ugly hair cut. The girl then put her hands opened with full of her own hair to the little boy. The boy put off his cap and with his thin face shown clearly and looked as a cancer boy with all his hair lost. He put the cap onto the girl’s head, the girl was smiling and put her hair on the little boy’s head, both kids were smiling to each other.

Movie

Watched few movies recently, 'In Good Company', 'Meet the Fockers', 'Get Shorty' and 'New York Minute', all of them are comedies but not of the same kind. I espeicially like 'Meet the Fockers' and 'Get Shorty', tho' 'Get Shorty' seems not a new film, the story is funny, kind of black comedy.
I didn't realize I had d/l so many films and I really have to free some more space of my h/d,... so as to d/l some new films...haha... still have some good films queuing to c, such as 'Aviator', 'Million dollars baby',... and Ah Lou reminded me, also have the Japanese Animation 'Full Metal Alchemist', sounds so interested after reading his blog...ohh..also the Korea drama '大長今'...
Sitting cosily, drinking a cup of tea and watching my favour movies. How nice!!

New Year

Yes, New Year is coming, it's not the New Year of 'Merry Christmas & Happy New Year', it's also not the Chinese New Year, it's the new financial year. We've to make a line between March and April and have a final cut. Have to write the staff appraisal reports, have to make review of the past year, have to make plans for the new year, set objectives, set targets for the coming year... doing all sorts of estimation..ai...what a troublesome & annoying New Year! (>.<)

Back Pay

Seems have signs to get back pay, hehe...am I too optimistic? Besides the $, I'm quite happy about that because the Gov will be more thoughtful before doing anything else that's against civil servants. Actually, it's really rude of them to deduct my salary..hehe...I expect we get better chance to win... Anyway, that's good to still have hope!... Wait and c the result on June....

Energy Save

Don't know since when, part of the lighting in the corridor of my office will auto turn off after 19:00 everyday for energy saving. I don't know the idea is come from mainland or not, u could c some of their shops turned on the light only when customer came in. um... will we have afternoon sleeping someday......

Professional

I've just got the cert of CISSP, that is CISS Professional. Now, I'm really a professional... I look at myself in the mirror to c if I look professional... um, seems look a bit more proffesional now.... is that superficial or navie!?.... whatsoever..
Althought, it's terrible to take the exam early in the morning and last for 6 hours, exhausted, esp to a owl like me, always want to sleep in the morning. It's over now and worth my 2 mths effort..as long as I can get it, it's worth.. (^_^)
However, I still haven't got any feedback from my office for reimbrusement of the exam fee. Will they really give me back the $$? ...um.. it's subject to the availability of the fund....(>.<)

Dental Appointment

Have dental appointment early in the morning. I've changed my appointment for many times, I finally didn't miss this one. Many ppl scare of having dental appointment but I'm not one of those. I don't really feel pain when my pretty dentist washing my teeth, she is so gentle with her hands. Few years ago, even after few mths of her nagging, i still didn't consent to have one of my wisdom tooth out... and waited until she was on vacation and when a guy filled her position... and i took the chance to remove my wisdom teeth...haha... it's my bias (um... may be the fact actually) that a woman usually don't have enough strength to pull out the wisdom teeth... but the main drawback is a man usually with bigger hands... and may cause my mouth become bigger *O*...
Anyway, I'll take tender care to my teeth la....I've to use them lifelong ga... (^__^)

1st Try

When I'm writing here, it reminds me that when I was a F.1 student, I sent an article to a magazine and they accepted me and paid me a cheque. It's the first time I wrote sth and send to a magazine, and first time to get $$ from writing. I still remeber I had to open a bank account in order to get $ from the bank. But when I made a second try, my article was rejected and since then I haven't send any article to magazine la..... Somtimes I wonder if I continue to write and write, would I become a writer (^O^), it sounds quite a good job to be a writer, u can do your job anywhere... hehe... Just can't believe it's just been such a looonnggg time, time r passing so fast........(~_~)...
Human structure r strange that y we can remeber sth but not the other, we can remeber sth very clearly even it happened long time ago, but we'll forget sth just happened. Sounds familar hah... especially when we r preparing our exam...haha... what's going on in our mind??

Ha ha...so many friends post diary here (^__^).. tho' I prefer reading others than writing it myself, still, I should post sth here to make sure they know I am reading what they posted.
Actually I prefer writing in chinese, but I really type it too slow la....and it's also good for me to practise my english la..
